Should You Be Buying Silver Bullion Coins?

There are a lot of frightened people out there right now. People that don't know what to do with their dwindling retirement funds. Should you be road sign your cash? Or should you continue on with mutual funds and hope for the best? Or, should you buy commodities and if so, which ones?

I judge silver bullion coins are a very smart investment right now and here are a few reasons why:

1) If the dollar continues to decline in value, worst case scenario will make the dollar worthless. If that happens, you better NOT have all your assets tied to the dollar (stocks, cash, etc). With silver bullion coins about 1/60th the price of gold, they are much more practically priced than their gold counterpart.

2) Us minted silver bullion coins, or silver eagles, have a recognized weight and value. Much simpler to exchange than bars that would require more testing, etc.

3) Silver, unlike Gold, has a lot of industrial uses. From cell phone batteries to photography film, Silver has a wide use whereas gold's main use is in jewelry which, in a tough economy, has decreased as an diligence.

4) Historically when the dollar has suffered, gold and silver have done well.

Now there are two different ways to buy silver that I like. One is silver bullion coins and the other is silver numismatic coins. Numismatic coins don't have the approximate and explosive nature of the simple precious metal but have historically done very well and are poised to continue to do so.
